How We Serve
The
PATH Ministry serves individuals suffering from post abortion trauma,
in both individual and group settings, by providing a safe and confidential
place for individuals to grieve their loss, allowing them to reconcile
with themselves, others and God.
The program will carry out its mission in the Atlanta,
Georgia area with the help of trained volunteer facilitators, who are
trained by and accountable to the director. The ministry will educate
the community, through workshops and literature regarding the nature of
post-abortion syndrome and its treatment.
Path offers two approaches to healing post abortion trauma.
One approach is a small group Bible Study, where individuals meet once
a week for about 16 weeks to work through issues relating to their abortion
experiences. The groups are small (usually 3 to 4 participants) are led
by two Path facilitators, and close with a prayer service.
The second approach is a weekend retreat (Rachel's Vineyard),
where exercises called "Living Scriptures" take place, inviting
individuals to experience Christ's love and mercy in an active way.
We, in Path, recommend that an individual experience
both approaches. Although each one is effective on its own, the two methods
compliment each other, and former Path participants enthusiastically encourage
experiencing both.
